About PulsePacer

A quick backstory on why I made PulsePacer, and what it's all about.

Why I Created PulsePacer

Honestly, PulsePacer started because running was getting annoying. I love running—don't get me wrong—but I was always checking my watch to make sure my heart rate stayed in the right zone. And if you've ever done zone training, you probably know how irritating that can get.

It was distracting, messing up my rhythm, and turning relaxing runs into stressful watch-checking sessions. One day (after yet another run where I was constantly glancing at my wrist), I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice if an app just gently told me whenever my heart rate went too high or too low? No screens, no fuss, just audio cues?"

I looked around the App Store, hoping someone had already created a solution like this—simple audio alerts, nothing flashy—but there was nothing quite right. Everything was either too complex or trying to do too much.

So, as someone who knows a thing or two about writing code (and really loves running), I figured, why not build it myself? A few months later, PulsePacer was ready to roll—a straightforward app that whispers into your ear when you stray from your target heart rate zone.

What Matters to Me

My goal was never to build something complicated or fancy. I just wanted an app that makes heart rate training effortless and enjoyable, instead of frustrating. Why? Because running should be a moment to escape—not another source of tech stress. Right?

To me, good software should fade quietly into the background. PulsePacer isn't packed with a hundred features. Instead, it does exactly one thing extremely well, and here's how:

Keep it Simple

PulsePacer gives clear, gentle audio alerts whenever your heart rate drifts out of your target zone. No flashy graphs, no extra stats you don't need, just straightforward feedback to keep your runs smooth.

Your Privacy First

I care about privacy, seriously. PulsePacer works entirely offline, processing your heart rate data directly on your iPhone—no cloud uploads, no third-party sharing. It stays private, simple as that.

Reliable Every Time

I've personally tested PulsePacer over hundreds of miles, in sunshine and rain, on hills and flat paths, tweaking and improving along the way. It's built for real running conditions—no glitches, no surprises.

Run Smarter

On top of building the app, I'm passionate about smarter running. I want to help you understand heart rate training, improve steadily, and maybe even enjoy your runs more. PulsePacer helps you do just that, with zero fuss.

What's Coming Up?

I'm still actively improving PulsePacer—staying focused on simplicity and privacy, but finding small ways to make the experience even better. Plans include smoother integration with iOS, easier connections to heart rate monitors, and customizable audio feedback that feels just right for your run.

If you've got ideas, or if there's something you think I should know, please get in touch. Your feedback helps me make PulsePacer even better for everyone.

Try It Out

Curious to try PulsePacer on your next run? Grab it from the App Store and give it a spin—I bet you'll wonder how you ever ran without it.
